Question: Should A Beauty Sponge Be Used Wet Or Dry?

Answer: Technically you can use it both ways.

One thing I love about makeup is there are NO rules to anything! But I’ll break down the ways and benefits to use a wet or a dry sponge.

If you use your sponge wet:

• Let me start off by saying if you do wet the sponge the sponge will expand to a much bigger size. Does that truthfully help with application? Some say a bigger sponge helps to get their foundation on faster!
• It also makes product application way easier, meaning it goes on more smoothly and you don’t get any streaks.
• Because it’s already full of water, the product can’t seep deep down into the sponge
• When you wet your sponge it dilutes the product a bit more giving your foundation/concealer/product less coverage

If you use your sponge dry:

• Using too much water can dilute the foundation and mess up the consistency.
• Use the tip of a dry sponge to concentrate product 
• Use it dry when there’s too much of a product and you want to tone it down
• Baking with a dry sponge is the best, picks up the product and allows you to place down maximum powder
• Using it dry really smooths out the overall look

Solution? Try it out both ways! I actually used to use mine dry but now I always opt for wetting it (so its damp) or just applying some setting spray. Sometimes I even use it wet, then use a dry one and go overtop when I am done with my makeup so it gives a flawless, less cakey appearance.
