I received the Laura Lee Los Angeles – Party Animal Palette in my August Boxy Charm. It retails for $19.00 USD. You can purchase it here.
This mini palette features 3 matte on-trend brights shadows and 3 shimmer shadows. They are super bright and come in a travel-friendly sized palette.
My first thoughts on the palette were that the colors were really out there. I don’t use bright colors but wanted to give this palette a fair shot. I even thought I could use this for Halloween, or October when I try to do fun makeup looks. So I did go into this with a very open mind.

There was/is a lot of drama surrounding Laura Lee as well. So please keep in mind this review is about her palette and not about her past.
So the first thing I did with this palette was swatch it. After swatching it, I was not impressed AT ALL.
Fist, it took a few strokes to get some colors to come up. Second, each color is SO chalky. It was so chalky, that I imagine it would be hard to do a look with this. You would have to blend out a lot, and it would take a lot of time.

Some colors were also very transparent too, no matter how many times I tried to go over the swatch.
The yellow and purple colors were the worst. The pink, orange and light blue colors weren’t too bad.
This palette retails for $19 USD for 6 shades, but in my opinion, it’s not worth it. If you want a palette that has these bright shadows you can find it elsewhere. The price-point is good, but the quality makes it hard to work with. I wouldn’t spend anything on this palette.
Here are some other palettes with bright colors:
I do have the Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Palette, and I am obsessed with the shades mango and sweet tea which are the right two on the bottom row.
These other palettes have better ratings and even more colors and are around the same price point (minus the lemonade palette).
Have you guys tried this palette? What’s your favorite colorful eye-shadow palette? Let me know in the comments!
xo,
Melissa
