Nutrition, Mindset, and Movement: My Fitness Wins

This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions and progress. I’ve learned a lot about my body and mindset, and I’m excited to share my journey with you.

First, let’s talk about those pesky numbers. My calorie intake fluctuated a bit this week, but I’m thrilled to say the scale still moved in the right direction! It’s a great reminder that weight loss isn’t just about calories in, calories out. I’ve also been focusing on upping my protein intake, and I’m proud to say I hit my goal five days this week! Not only am I feeling stronger, but I’ve noticed a decrease in snacking, which is a huge win.

I still see that my fiber intake needs to increase, and I have been looking into different ways to increase it, whether it be fiber pills or another change in my diet. Fiber is so important in diets so looking to increase is essential for me.

Fiber is essential for optimal health. It’s a type of carbohydrate that the body can’t digest. While it might not provide calories, its benefits are numerous:

  • Digestive Health: Fiber adds bulk to stool, preventing constipation and promoting regular bowel movements. It also helps maintain the health of the gut microbiome.
  • Weight Management: Fiber creates a feeling of fullness, which can help control appetite and reduce overall calorie intake.
  • Blood Sugar Control: Soluble fiber helps slow down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream, preventing spikes in blood sugar levels.
  • Heart Health: Fiber can help lower cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease.
  • Reduced Risk of Certain Diseases: Some studies suggest that a high-fiber diet may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes, colon cancer, and other conditions.

To maximize the benefits of fiber, aim for a variety of fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts.

Another exciting development is my newfound love for morning workouts. I used to be a queen of hitting the snooze button, but now I find myself jumping out of bed to make it to my 9:30am weekend class. The energy boost and visible changes in my body are incredible motivators. I’ve even noticed an improvement in my treadmill speed, which is a major accomplishment considering my aversion to running.

Of course, there have been challenges. I’ve been dealing with some asthma flare-ups, which made it tough to breathe, especially during workouts. But with a new inhaler prescription, I’m starting to feel better and feel like I can push myself a little harder in class.

Overall, I’m feeling positive about my progress. It’s been a little over a month since I joined Alpha Fit, and I’m already seeing and feeling the benefits. I’m excited to continue this journey and share more updates with you soon!
