My 2024 New Year’s Resolutions

Are New Years resolutions still a thing anymore? I see so many people over on Instagram doing their “In’s” and “Outs”, but I just love a New Year’s resolution. I love spending time reflecting, and seeing what I can do to make me a better human being. So here are mine:

1. Be More Organized – I’ll be the first to admit it, I have a lot of stuff: clothes, makeup, accessories. This year, I want to try and downsize a lot of my things and focus on reorganizing. I have our snack cabinet I want to reorganize, and also our dreaded medicine cabinet (anyone else keep everything? Just in case) I also want to start using my planner again, whether it be my monthly spread, or even my daily spread. I will write down my list of to-dos for the week and cross them off when complete. I used to get such satisfaction from doing that, so I need to get back into that.

2. Get More Fresh Air/Move my Body (even when it’s cold out) – I pretty much sit at a desk all day for work and throughout the past few months I noticed sometimes I can just sit there and not get up for hours if it’s busy which is so not healthy. I used to Peloton pretty much every single morning, but the last few weeks have been pretty rough. Gene and I are pretty good at taking a walk first thing in the morning, even during the winter, and this week we have made it a mission to do so. I am hoping we can keep this up this year.

3. Be more intentional with my phone – I have always tried to be aware if I am on my phone too much, whether I’m with Gene, my family or friends, but it can be pretty challenging since I do social media and that portion of my job pretty much resolves around my phone. This year, I really want to be present in the moment, and aware if I’m hanging with someone to focus on my time with them. I’m also going to be intentional about “mindless scrolling,” which always puts me in a weird/negative headspace.

4. Make an Effort at Least 2x a Week to get Dressed – This may resonate with my fellow work from home girlies but you can often find me in sweats, a sweatshirt, or t-shirt when I work. It’s easy to just throw on and it is comfortable. I often skip the makeup, and everything else when it comes to the days I work from home. I usually go into the office once a week which is nice, but I would also like to start putting an effort into my appearance at least 2x a week when I’m home. It doesn’t have to mean makeup, but it can mean putting on a sweater with my leggings, or putting on a tinted sunscreen in the morning. Something to just make myself feel better about my appearance.

5. Eat “Healthier” – This past year was a lot for me health wise, I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and PCOS. Over the past few months I learned what was “healthy” for my body and during this year I want to expand on that, I want to fuel my body with things that are good for it. I want to be aware of what I am eating, and how it can impact my health. This is not a healthy = diet. This is a I know what can trigger my PCOS, let me try and stay away from that. I know gluten is not good for my body let me avoid that. I want to make healthier decisions for myself.

6. Stay Consistent – This one particularly for my social media. I love doing social media, and sometimes I feel like I can commit myself to more than I can chew. Over the past several months I have been slowly adding more to my plate, without committing to too much! For example my blog, I am posting about once a week on here. My Instagram I am posting more or less about once a week in my feed, and daily in my stories. Youtube, I am aiming to post at least once a month. Youtube is the most stressful as the editing process is longer, but something as easy as once a month seems feasible. This year I want to stay consistent with my posting schedule, but I would also like to recognize that not everyone is perfect and I can’t always post, and that is in fact, okay.

7. Be More Mindful with my Purchases – I want to be more aware of my purchases, with no more impulse spending. I’ve heard of the rule where you write it in an app and after 48 hours if you still want it, then purchase it. I want to start buying more quality pieces instead of more pieces in general.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? I’d love to hear and get a little inspo from you, too!
