Mask Monday: Lush Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask

So for this Mask Monday I wanted to share with you a mask I bought a few months ago. I didn’t know what type of mask I wanted to share with you all this week, so I thought this different one would be interesting!

This Lush Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask retails for $4.95 USD and you can purchase it here.

I wanted to try this because my hands always feel super dry, the soap at work is constantly drying out my hands and they needed some TLC.

It is described as:
“Feeling all washed up? This avocado and argan oil hot mask is just the job for hardworking hands with fresh cupuaçu and murumuru butters to hydrate and nourish every nook and cranny. “

Directions:
Stand your hand mask upright in a bowl that’s big enough to fit both of your hands in comfortably. Boil some water and then add it to your bowl, covering the product. Stir gently allowing the treatment to develop, thicken and cool slightly. Soak hands for 15 minutes before rinsing clean.

My experience:

So I boiled my hot water in a tea kettle, and when it was almost super hot I poured it into my bowl where my Hot Hand Mask was. I started swirling the mask around. It was not melting, I did this for about 10 minutes and the mask was still not melting! By then I thought the water would be cool, so I sort of improvised. I put my hands in the bowl, with the mask, and was mixing it around with my hand.

I know that was not in the directions but it didn’t make sense, about 5 minutes into that I had to ask my mom to pour more hot water into my bowl because it was getting really cold.

So I thought this was a huge flop. My mask still was not melting! It didn’t even change the texture of that water like it was supposed to. So then I started rubbing the mask on my hands and rubbing the mask together once it broke into two little pieces, together, and all over my hands.

I know the instructions didn’t say to do that, but it was just not melting! This 15 minute mask turned into an hour long process that just would not melt!

After me fiddling with the mask for an hour it did sort of “melt” into tiny chunks. Basically not what the instructions said at all! So after I let my hands sit another 15 minutes, I took my hands out and dried them. I then put a deep moisturizing hand lotion on them from lush. The Helping Hands Cream, you can find here.

My final thoughts:

I was actually really disappointed it didn’t work out the way it was supposed to. It took a really long time to even get the mask to get smaller, it didn’t melt.

It did make my hands feel softer, but I was really playing around with it and rubbing it together and on me! So, I feel like that had to do with my hands being super soft. The lotion I put on after is super moisturizing as well.

So would I recommend it? Truthfully, no. It took so long to do, the instructions weren’t right, I feel they need to be more detailed. A lot of the reviews were mixed. It’s not bad for under 5 bucks, but I feel like there are better alternatives out here.

I feel like it it melted, and had more clear instructions I would probably like this mask a lot better. But, because it didn’t I have to say pass on this
