This past weekend I was SO lucky I got to visit the Rose Mansion in NYC. For those unfamiliar with it, it is a building, with a mansion like feel that is filled with nothing but different information about rose, samples for you to try and amazing props and photo opportunities. Learn more about the rose mansion here.
I wanted to Vlog this experience, but unfortunately, I was not able to because of timed portions, so instead I am writing up this blog piece and will be posting pictures and videos on my Instagram (follow me: xoMelissa205)
Let me know if you guys want a slideshow video of this experience! I have a slideshow and a collage of photos for you guys to check out! But for now, I’m going in room order.
The rose mansion took about 1 hour to get through. I went with my best friend, Renikah, who I have known since high-school. We took the train, so it took us about 45 minutes to get to. Then we took a cab to the mansion itself because New York was chilly! We got there a little early, but we got to take some pictures outside of the exhibit before everyone arrived.
The mansion had different rooms and you were allowed eight 1 oz. samples. I believe it was a wine sample per room.
We climbed up the stairs to get to the Rose Mansion name (photo).
When we walked in, we were given a wine glass that was supposed to last us until the end of the tour. We were also given stickers to put on the wall in one room (photo in slideshow). We then walked into the office portion of this mansion. I sit and work at a cube all day, so obviously, I had to get a photo here. I was sitting with wine in my cup, and my feet on the desk, basically my dream workplace (photo in slideshow).
In the next room we got to try wine with gummy bears. They showed us a science experiment where if you tasted the wine after the gummy bear and it was sweet or bitter you have certain taste buds. I forgot the meaning of it! There is a photo of Renikah and I against the pink wall. You smelled different parts of the wall and smelled different things, like wine or a fresh scent.
After that room there was a wilderness room, which I didn’t take a picture in. Then we walked down a hallway and saw a phone (photo in slideshow) and there were different theme rooms! One had really cool string lights (photo in slide show), another had flowers on the wall (photo in slide show) another had a big mirror, (photo in slideshow).
Then we walked down a hallway, and there were a bunch of purple balloons. I had a video to it, but WordPress won’t let me post it. Check out my Instagram though, I’ll have tons of cool videos and photos there! Then we go to make our own wine (photo in slideshow). So we got a piece of paper and on it, it asked us the weights, the acidity, and the fruitiness. I checked off Medium, zing and fruity, and delicate. While that was being made I took my photo in front of the perfect blend backdrop (photo in slideshow).
Then we got to jump in a ball pit! I have a boomerang of it on my Instagram. That was the best part. We only got 2 minutes in it, but it was really fun.
After the ball pit, I took a photo with my dream display of wine, that big old wine fountain (2 photos in slideshow). Then we got to walk into a forest. Inside there was a bathtub where you can throw flower peddles around. This was times too! I got 30- seconds. I made a video but can’t post it, but I did get a photo (in collage). After that, we went over and we got to sit on the swinging chandelier like seat. I thought that was adorable. We didn’t get timed here (photo in collage). Then I had to take my photo next to the Wine Hall of Fame because I basically deserve to be up there (photo in collage).
After that, we got to try on crowns and take a picture on that big throne! So I put on my favorite crown and hopped right on there. I was sipping my wine on the throne, like the Queen I am (photo in collage). Then we got to travel back in time and we got a little NYC pin and got to sit on lounge chases and relax with some wine in our hand (photo in collage).
The last room I took a video in, it was a no standing, just dancing backdrop with my friend and I raising our glasses. After that, we walked out and we were able to take a few more photos downstairs. Like the GIF of us putting our cups in front of us, me on the beach chair and in front of the New York City backdrop.
We both had a glass of wine and some Froze. We also took a picture outside the bathroom in the mirror (photo in collage).
The drinks after, at the bar were a little pricey, but that is to be expected in NYC. Overall I had a great time. People were saying that you were rushed throughout the whole thing, but I did not feel rushed at all! The only rushing parts were when we were times, but even then it was pretty do-able.
I wish they had this open for a longer period of time because I would love to go back! I think the $45 USD was worth it. It was so fun, but I would definitely recommend going at an early time because it gets crowded fast. Workers can’t take photos of you, but other visitors can, and they are more than willing if you take one for them too!
I know before this pop up they did an ice cream museum and I wish I was able to go there. Ice cream has been my favorite since I was little so that would have been fun. But this was just as great!
If you’re not near NYC, don’t worry I think they travel and they may be coming to you soon! SO keep an eye out.
What’s your favorite pop up that you’ve been to?
xo,
Melissa
