Maybelline Dream Matte® Mousse- Wear Test

IMG_1109I have wanted to try this foundation since I heard my favorite YouTuber Casey Holmes say how much she loved it. Then my Godmother mentioned how she uses it and swears by it. So I just had to try it.

Maybelline describes it as, “This long-lasting and lightweight foundation leaves skin looking smooth, flawless, and with a matte finish. This long-lasting foundation features exclusive silky matte powder spheres that glide evenly onto the skin for a flawless, soft-focus 16-hour matte finish. Dermatologist tested. Allergy tested. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for all skin types. Suitable for sensitive skin.”

I picked this up from my local Harmon for the price of  $8 USD but you can get it here from Ulta for $4.49 USD. I use the shade Sandy Beige. IMG_1110

This is my third day wear test, so please tell me if you like it!

Here’s a breakdown of my process:

I start doing my makeup at around 6:50 a.m. and usually end it by 7:05 a.m.

So first, I use the TOO FACED Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer which retails for $32 USD for a regular size and $15 USD for a mini. You can find it here. It is “a cooling, mattifying primer that blurs, smooths, and brightens the complexion”. It says it “offers up to 12 hours of shine control, lasts up to 16 hours and smells like peaches and cream”. I use about 1 pump of this primer. It does have a light peach and cream smell, nothing too strong.

I then applied the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. I started out with a brush and realized much wasn’t getting blended out! So then I applied it with my fingertips, and it was a much better feeling. It was easy to blend and super lightweight. It did have that mousse texture which was nice too.

Then, I used the TOO FACED Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder. You can find it here and it retails for $32 USD. It is a “lightweight and comfortable, mattifying loose powder in a universal peach tint.” Apparently, this powder is great for, under eye baking, I have not tried that yet.

I stuck to my Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray. Find it here.  I swear by this, no matter what foundation/primer/powder I  used, this setting spray made SUCH a huge difference.

My office’s air goes from hot to humid, so I thought this would be a great test. Today’s 86 degrees and warm. After work, I hung at home and had my best friend come over for a fun makeup day!

7:47 a.m.

7:05 a.m. It went on super smooth when I applied it with my fingers. It’s super lightweight! Sort of feels like I’m not wearing any makeup at all. The texture of the mousse itself is almost buttery it has such a nice feeling. It actually has pretty good coverage too! I thought it would be more of a sheer coverage, but it has such a nice finish. It doesn’t leave me flat.
12:00 p.m. I am starting to notice my face is starting to look a little dewy. Also, it transfers pretty easily. I used a tissue a few times and the area surrounding my nose the makeup came off. I feel like I have a nice demi-matte finish right now.

3:00 p.m. My forehead is starting to look pretty oily, but it doesn’t feel like my oils are sitting on top of my foundation. It feels blended together pretty well.
5:00 p.m. Again I just see the oils on my forehead and some foundation that came off around my nose. But it seriously looks great and still feels super lightweight. I feel like I can blot now but I am refraining. It doesn’t make my texture stand out.
7:00 p.m. My friend said my forehead looks a little oily, but it is nothing too bad. I still don’t see any texture on my skin. It’s still super lightweight, and I feel like I’m not wearing foundation.

5:10 p.m.

9:00 p.m. This foundation lasted really well all day. Although I got oily I feel like if I blot around 5 p.m. it would have been even more perfect. Blotting once a day after 8 hours is amazing. The foundation itself held up pretty well.

I tried this foundation out a second time to completely make my decision about this foundation.

Overall I am so satisfied with this foundation. It’s super easy to apply and is soo soft. It’s lightweight but has really good coverage without caking or bringing attention to my pores. It is also very build-able which I love. Even when I build more it doesn’t feel heavy. It works super well with my oily skin and leaves me matte without being flat.

This foundation will be great all year around. I feel like it’s such a great lightweight medium/full coverage for summer.

Have you tried this? What do you think?
